Fei Liu, or David, graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong Universtiy, P.R.China with MS and worked as a Visiting Scholar in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Now, he is working in Center of Musculoskeletal Research (CMR) lab as a doctoral candidate under the supervision of Professor Komistek in The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The objective of Fei Liu's dissertation is to build two-dimension (2D) and three-dimension (3D) mathematical models of normal, degenerative, fused and disc replacement spines in order to determine their in vivo kinematical and kinetic characteristics, then compare these results to see if degenerative, disc replaced and fused spines have statistically different motion and force patterns compared to the normal spine. This model can help better understanding the causes of degeneration in the spine and developing a new treatment.
